Book — Hugo Izarra, “Gominolas para los patos” (Candy for the Ducks), illustrated by Matt Sesow (Béjar: SBQ, 2011)
“Gominolas para los patos” (Candy for the Ducks), poems by Hugo Izarra with a prologue by Luis Felipe Comendador and illustrations by Matt Sesow — his fish painting is on the cover — was published in Béjar, Spain, by SBQ in 2011. It is the first volume of “El brut de los corazones solidarios” (The Raw of Compassionate Hearts), SBQ Solidario’s series of donated, copyleft books that pays for small humanitarian projects. Sales helped Jamir Alexander, a four-year-old Peruvian boy, and on July 3, 2011 SBQ delivered a food cart painted with Matt’s fish to Hermelinda Chávez, a mother of three in Cerro Cabras (Alto Trujillo), Trujillo, Peru.
