Independent Filmmakers Currently, independents lag behind major studios in their use of the Web, but the gap is closing as they discover its potential for open, low- cost promotion and distribution. An example of an independent film- maker site can be found at Matt Sesow’s page, shown in Figure 10.13; he was also a winner of a recent filmmaker’s contest hosted by the Kalei- dospace Screening Room. Additional material is available at http://kspace. com/sesow. Interesting resources for independent film are maintained at Cinema Connection (http://www.webcom.com/~3e-media/TMC/ tecframe.html), Indy Cine (http:/Avwv.digimark.net/st/), and IndieZine (hetp://telluridemm.com/indizine.html). Directories for individual films such as Chaos Entertainment's Drawing Down the Moon (Figure 10.14), can be found at Yahoo! in the Independent Titles subdirectory.

Another outstanding resource for budding filmmakers is Cyber Film School (http://www.cyberfilmschool.com), which provides a complete educational resource for screenwriting and filmmaking. Indi- vidual directors and actors are listed in searchable databases like Video pro (http://txdirect.net/videopro) and links to fan pages can be found at sites like Johnny Gs Independent and Cult Film Page (http://Avww.net- com.com/~johnnyg2). Independent production studios have just begun to go online; a few like Hollywood's Los Angeles Film Factory (http://wwwlafilmfactory.com) are providing listings of their services.
